Bathroom blinds face a constant battle with steam, condensation, and humidity. You need to choose bathroom (and kitchen) blinds wisely in order for them to last. We’re always happy to help so feel free to call for expert advice! Or if you prefer, have a read here of our top tips for choosing perfect bathroom blinds!
Avoid using real wood
Real wood should be avoided in damp or humid environments as it can stain or warp over time. If you wish to choose the wood effect, there are some great faux wood effects that mimic the look of real wood but won’t be affected by the damp or humidity.
Choose the right fabric
Just as real wood isn’t the most suitable material for a bathroom, there’s a few others that should be avoided too! With fabrics such as linen, cotton or silk, moisture can get stuck in the fibres causing your blinds to mould and smell with the damp. PVC and polyester are much better choices.
Shower-proof Blinds
For many of us, our showers are close to or even directly next to our window. The last thing you want is for your new shiny blinds to be bombarded by shower water and ruined by the moisture. Here you would need waterproof blinds to do the trick.
Blinds VS Curtains
Perhaps we are stating the obvious here but a bathroom is no place for curtains. Curtains do not fare well under damp and moist conditions; blinds are a much more practical choice.
Keep privacy in mind
Usually, people want to keep their bathroom out of view from any passers by or hidden away if your house is overlooked by others. Bottom up roller blinds are a great option. Just raise the blind as far you need to for privacy, then let the light shine through the top.
Roller blinds are probably your best choice for a high quality, durable bathroom blind. If you need help making the right decision for your bathroom, get in touch with our team today.
